The COMFORTage´s project has celebrated its first General Assembly and an Open Day from 11-13 of June, with conferences and demo sessions based on Cognitive Health
to harness Artificial Intelligence and technological advances for dementia and frailty prediction in Valladolid, Spain!

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The project held its first General Assembly in Valladolid from 11th to 13th of June, hosted by Fundacion INTRAS at the School of Telecommunications Engineering. Over the past few days, following the last meeting in Rome dedicated to aligning the technical aspects and requirements of the pilots, the Consortium has made progress on several issues, aiming to make further advancements on crucial matters in the coming months. The main outcomes have been:

  • Pilot Bioethics Protocol and Clinical Protocols specifications.
  • Ethical Framework.
  • Technical integration of the COMFORTage platform: user, technical, and ethical requirements to align all pilots.
  • User journey of each pilot: establishment of a framework for the digital healthcare pathway for each pilot, and interactions of the different roles with the platform.
  • Digital services provided by COMFORTage (identifying which services will be used in each use case pilot).
  • Presentation of the Innovation Inception Report.
  • First market analysis and next steps for developing a Business Plan for the project.
  • Creation of new spaces in the meetings for relaxation, including yoga and mindfulness sessions.
  • Updates and planning for each Work Package.
  • Project management and financial report.
  • First version of the COMFORTage website.

OPEN DAY : Cognitive Health to harness AI and technological advances for the prediction of dementia and frailty

The project has conducted its first Open Day on Cognitive Health to harness AI and technological advances for the prediction of dementia and frailty, where nearly one hundred experts in health, care, and new technologies, as well as experts by experience, gathered on the 13th to participate in the conference and demo sessions. The conferences took place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Valladolid (UVa), where several projects related to data collection for the improvement of dementia prevention were presented:

To conclude the first part of the conferences, the following initiatives were presented:

  • The IDENTIA project, which uses virtual reality to prevent Mild Cognitive Impairment.
  • The support for the improvement in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease through encephalogram and magnetoencephalogram techniques.
  • The importance of the dementia diagnosis process.

In the second part, held in the Innova UVa building, demo sessions and pitches of several technologies took place, where virtual reality programmes, digital avatars, and other technologies were tested to improve the retrieval and collection of information on diseases and illnesses related to old age, such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. These are the technologies that were tested:

Thanks to the Fundación UVA and the Universidad de Valladolid for their collaboration in organising this conference. Also, thanks to ENSUMA, a social enterprise that works to improve the employability of people with mental health problems, for organising all the catering.

The next General Assembly an Open Day will be held in Romania in October, to continue with the next steps of our project.

It has been a very fruitful meeting where clear plans for future advancements have been set!
